Steve Wise
Associate Pastor

Steve Wise, the oldest "kid" on staff has continued his vow to never commit "adulthood" for almost 18 years at Westminster. He grew up in Columbia where he learned the fine art of being a "kid", moved to Mauldin in high school to play for the Mighty Mavericks - MOOOO!!!

After 4 years as a fierce fighting Terrier at Wofford College, he began work at Westminster as a Young Life Church Partner in 1988. The highlight of his four years there was his marriage to Becky Hadden (now Wise) in 1990. In 1992 they took a brief hiatus to the American Siberia in Princeton, New Jersey where he completed his Master of Divinity Degree and ordination process in the PC(USA). Steve and Becky returned in 1995 as an ordained pastor for youth and youth outreach. Two more kids have been added to the family, Joe Banks Wise (now 13) and Rebecca (now 10).  He is also the proud "master" of Duke - a "good dawg."

SUNDAY MORNING THANG
It's called the "Thang" because we don't know what else to call it, but call it what you might, please don't call it Sunday School. For grades 8-12, we gather on Sunday morning at the Emory Road House after the early worship service for some time to catch up with one another and spend some time playing, praying, studying, and discussing. We combined small groups, bible study and teaching time together to provide a great environment to help us know and grow in relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We have several adult leaders who work with our youth and we are always "on the lookout" for others whom God calls to join us.

COMMUNICANTS CLASS
The "Quest" is designed for 7th grade youth in the Church. We meet during Sunday School hour to talk about the basics of the Christian faith. The emphasis of the class is to educate our young people about faith in Jesus and allowing them to make it their own. The class ends with each student forming their own statement of faith and being given the opportunity to become members of the body of Christ at Westminster.

YOUNG LIFE
Young Life is part of the way we fulfill the Great Commission in the high school community and with our own youth. A 50+ year, international ministry outreach, Young Life reaches out to high school students who are disinterested in the Church. Westminster employs this ministry as its vehicle for youth ministry in the church and community. Leaders go where "kids" are to "earn the right to be heard" by them. Young Life "club" meets Monday nights (during the school year) at the Emory Road House from 8:00-9:00pm for an hour of singing, fun, games, and a clear presentation of the good news of Jesus Christ. We also take a trip to Frontier Ranch in Colorado every summer and weekend retreat to Windy Gap, North Carolina in the fall.

WYLDLIFE
Very appropriately named, this is Young Life for junior high students. WyldLife "club" is a "wyld" hour of games, skits, and off-the-wall humor with a relevant and clear communication of the gospel message. This happens every Wednesday night (during the school year) at the Emory Road House from 6:30-7:30pm. We venture on a weeklong trip to Southwind, a WyldLife camp in Oklawaha, Florida during the summer and a weekend at Windy Gap in North Carolina in the spring.

Stacy Davis
Youth Director

Stacy (Marshall) Davis grew up in Wilson, North Carolina. At 12 years of age, she relocated to Spartanburg, SC, where she has made her home ever since. Her family includes: her parents, who still live in Spartanburg and attend WPC as well; Andy, her twin brother; a younger sister Buffy who is married to Dave Kadela, and another younger sister Cathy.  She is married to Jordan Davis who is employed by Young Life of Spartanburg County.

After graduating from Spartanburg High School in 1995, she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in college, she volunteered all four years with Young Life at Chapel Hill High School. She graduated with a double major in History and Religious Studies in May 1999.

After graduating, she sensed God's call to continue ministry with high school kids--something she loved--and began working for Young Life in Greenville, NC. In August of 2003, Stacy began working at Westminster with both the junior high and senior girls. She has been here almost a year and loves what she does. She is so thankful for the support of the church as she gets to build relationships with junior and senior high girls in the name of Christ.

Patrick Grimes - Wyldlife Ministry Director

Patrick graduated from Spartanburg High in 2004, was active in Young Life and Wyldlife in High School.

He attended the University of South Carolina, graduating in 2008 with a degree in Political Science and Religious Studies. He spent three years as a volunteer Young Life and Wyldlife leader in the Forest Acres region of Columbia, SC.

Patrick has been telling Steve Wise to "shut his cake-hole" since he was eight years old. He enjoys moon lit walks on the beach and his mother's homemade coconut macaroons.

Both of Patrick's parents are active members of WPC.
