In late summer 2018, Dr. Paul Petersen announced his plans to retire as Senior Pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church. That September, a Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) was formed and tasked with the discerning work of seeking a candidate. This committee met over 8 months to pray and consider the field of candidates. On May 15, 2019, the PNC notified the congregation that they were ready to nominate a candidate and call a congregational meeting. On June 2, 2019, the congregation voted to call Rev. Steve Wise. Steve is currently serving at WPC as Associate Pastor for Emerging Generations and has 25+ years of experience ministering to youth and families in our community. We look forward to the remaining months of Dr. Paul's leadership and celebrating his 18+ years of ministry at WPC on September 29, 2019. Steve's new role will begin on October 1, 2019. Please be praying for our leadership and its transition! The team overseeing pastoral succession is the Succession Planning Committee. They are Jim Brady, Barry Phillips, Frank Grimes, Harriet Moxley, Elise Mercer, and Janice Smith. Here is an excerpt from a recent post to the congregation:
